Signing In To Cisco Jabber
Locate the Cisco Jabber on your Mac. When you launch the app, you will be prompted to enter your network username and password via OKTA Single Sign on.
Client Overview
When you first login to Jabber, you will be taken to the Jabber Hub, where you will have calling and voicemail access.
Profile / Preferences
At the top left of your client, you will see your initials in a circle. By clicking the profile icon, you can access Jabber preferences, or Sign Out.
From Preferences, you can customize the following:
- General
- Start Cisco Jabber when my computer starts
- Contacts
- Notifications & Sounds
- Calls
- Audio, Mute, Video, Window Options
- App Appearance
Making an External Call
From the Search or Call bar, enter the full telephone number exactly how you would dial it from your deskphone. For instance, dial 9 + 1 + the 10 digit number for an external call. When you have the number entered correctly, press Enter on your computer keyboard,or click the green Phone icon to complete the call.
Alternatively, you can click the Key Pad icon, and use the dial pad to enter the number.
Making an Internal Call
Enter the name of a contact or 4-digit extension for who you wish to call in the Search or call Bar. Jabber will search the company directory to find the contact.
Call Controls
Once a call is in progress, the call controls buttons will appear. From the call controls, you can Mute, Start Video, Launch the Keypad, and Transfer or Place Calls on Hold.
Voice Messages
The voice message tab displays your Unity Connection voicemail messages. To play a message, click play button to the right of the entry. Right click the voicemail for other options to Call, Play, Forward, or Delete the message.
Telephone Options
When you are logged into Jabber, you will see a symbol at the bottom of jabber window, that will direct you to call forward/telephone Call Preferences menu when clicked.
Call Forwarding
- From the icon on the bottom of the Jabber client windows, select Call Preferences > Call Forward tab.
- You will see a list of available destinations for Call Forward. Voice Message should be available by default.
- If you would like to forward all your calls directly to voicemail, you can select the Forward Calls to: Voice Message from this menu.
- If you would like to forward calls to another internal extension, add the 4-digit extension to this list.
- If you would like to forward calls to an external phone number, enter the external number exactly how you would dial from your deskphone. (ie: 9 + 1 + 10 Digit Phone Number)
- Select Forward Calls to: <Destination added>
- To turn off call forwarding, return to this menu and Select Do Not Forward Calls.
