SMC 113, 117, 121, 129, and 131 have been updated for 2024 with new options to Zoom using the classroom's equipment. You may now choose to run the Zoom meeting from either the Mac Mini in the lectern, or your own MacBook (USB-C port required; older Macs may not have this port).
Option 1: Zoom using the Mac Mini
- Select "Mac Mini" on the touchpanel
- Go to the Mac's audio preferences and verify that "Classroom System" is selected as the audio device for both microphone and speaker (input / output tabs).
- Launch the Zoom app and be sure you're logged in with your Moravian account (SSO login option).
- Check Zoom's audio settings: Select the proper Microphone and Speaker (both should be "Classroom System")
- Check Zoom's video settings: Select the camera you wish to use (both the wall-mounted camera and the document camera are available to use in Zoom).
- NOTE: If you are using the Epson document camera as your camera instead of the adjustable wall-mounted camera in the back of the room, you may need to adjust the "rotation" settings in Zoom's video preferences menu if you flip up the camera lens to face students.
- Start your Zoom meeting
- Rear wall camera positioning can be adjusted via touchpanel controls.
- Be sure to use either the wireless lapel mic or the handheld mic that is on the lectern.
- Students can be heard over Zoom via the ceiling-mounted area mic systems in each division of the room.
Option 2: Zoom using your own MacBook (or other USB-C capable laptop):
- Connect your laptop to the USB-C cable.
- Select "USB-C Laptop" on the touchpanel
- Go to your laptop's audio preferences and choose "Classroom System" as the audio device for both microphone and speaker.
- Launch the Zoom app and be sure you're logged in with your Moravian account (SSO login option).
- Check Zoom's audio settings: Select the proper Microphone and Speaker (both should be "Classroom System")
- Check Zoom's video settings: Select the camera you wish to use (both the wall-mounted camera and the document camera are available to use in Zoom).

Always check your Zoom audio settings before each meeting.
To do so, click on the up-arrow in the microphone icon during a meeting.
Most Common Problems & Solutions:
"I can't hear anyone."
- Be sure you've selected the proper "Speaker" in Zoom - this is the most common solution.
- Adjust the volume on the touch panel as needed.
“The people on Zoom can't hear us.”
- Be sure you've selected the proper "Microphone" in Zoom.
- Be sure the mics are not muted, and volume turned up.
- The wireless microphone systems at each lectern also go through Zoom and provide a more clear audio signal than the ceiling microphones.
“The camera image is upside down or flipped backward”
- Check Video Settings and see if "Mirror My Video" is checked. If so, uncheck the box.
- When using the document camera as a Zoom camera flipped up to face students, the image will need to be rotated in Zoom's Video Preferences menu. If you're using the camera as a true "document" camera, then the image may need to be rotated back to the original orientation (also in Zoom's Video Preferences menu).
