Cisco Jabber on Macbook: No Audio / 1-Way Audio

Symptoms

  • One-way audio (caller can hear you, but you cannot hear them, or vice versa).

  • No audio at all during a call.

  • Microphone not picking up sound.

  • macOS Privacy settings blocking microphone access.

  • Incorrect "Start calls with" preference in Jabber.

Step-by-Step Troubleshooting

  1. Open System Settings on the Mac.

  2. Navigate to Privacy & Security.

  3. Select Microphone.

  4. Toggle the switch to Enable for Cisco Jabber.

  5. Open the Cisco Jabber application.

  6. Click the User Icon (located on the left) to open User Preferences.

  7. Select Preferences.

  9. Verify that Start calls with: is set to Cisco Jabber.

  • "One-way audio" refers to a state where sound only travels in one direction.
